www.FredParent.NET • 23 H ave you all been to River Rock Outfitter yet? It's a new shop in town, on Sophia Street, that carries all kinds of premium outdoors gear including adorable kid apparel. It is quickly climbing our list of Family Favorites. One Fred Parent wrote into our Family Favorites con- test saying, "River Rock Outfitter is a great shop with awesome employees who really know [their] product and want to help customers." I took my youngest boy to check it out the other day and we loved everything! River Rock Outfitter is family owned and oper- ated. Its mission is to educate you on river access and safety protocols, support local initiatives and organizations that promote conservation of our natural resources, and to participate in com- munity partnerships that promote a healthy and vibrant downtown. The shop maintains a community bulletin board with local outdoors events such as hiking, camping, fishing, etc. River Rock Outfitter also has classes to educate and introduce the community to vari- ous outdoor activities, such as fly-fishing, kayaking, climbing and stand-up paddle boarding (SUP). River Rock Outfitter loves the Fredericksburg community and it shows. It's been a sponsor for The 4th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival at Paragon Theatre, and it hosted local Boy Scout Troop Aquia District Troop 1717, Hartwood, Virginia, where they discussed tent designs, sleep- ing bags, camp systems, pack management and more! They've also done various work with Spencer Devon Brewing and Adventure Brewing, and have held a book signing with Beau Beasly for Project Healing Water. Stop by the shop to pick up some fantastic gear. Be sure to check out River Rock Outfitter's website (www.riverrockoutfitter.com) and follow them on social media for info on upcoming events. family favorites BY BRENDA SAPANGHILA
