WRITTEN BY BRENDA SAPANGHILA family favorites The Farmers market is a great place to catch up with neighbors, support local artists and stock up on fresh eats for the week. My collection of faux animal print heels, found on ThredUP. Spring is here and that means our local farmers will be invading Hurkamp Park every weekend! That's right, the Fredericksburg Farmers Market opens on April 21. There is no better way to spend a Saturday morning than picking up fresh produce, bread, and local- ly-roasted coffee from the market—all with coffee in hand and kids playing in the park. You're not limited to fruits and veggies, either. You'll find meat, eggs, pastries, flowers, honey and more all right here. Don't forget to bring a cloth bag or two. They're much easier to transport your goodies home with and have a much smaller environmental impact. The Fredericksburg Farmers Market hosts several great family- friendly events throughout the year like The Kid's Market, Art In The Park, Community Day, Harvest Festival, and more. Not close to town? Don't worry. There are Farmers Markets in Spotsylvania County and Stafford County, too! No matter where you live, be sure to follow your favorite Farmers Markets on whichever social media platform they use. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are all solid bets and you'll find up-to-date news on open- ings, closings, events, and even facts about vendors. The Farmers Market This is a monthly column featuring winners and nominees of the 2017 FredParent Family Favorite contest.
