and nominees of the 2016 FredParent Family
Favorite contest.
The end of the school year is coming and for many area
parents that means one thing: summer camps! There are
dozens to choose from and each one offers a unique expe-
rience. Last year, "Favorite Summer Sleepaway Camp" was
a hot category in our Family Favorites contest. For weeks,
several of the camps were neck-and-neck. In the end, 4 -H
Camp was our winner!
4-H is a global youth organization network whose focus is
"To make the best better." Per its website, "For more than
80 years, Virginia 4-H camping has been a proven and
effective method of teaching youth life skills. Each year
more than 17,000 youth participate in 4-H camping pro-
grams at Virginia's six 4-H educational centers."
There are 4-H camps offered in King George, Stafford
and Spotsylvania counties. Each camp is a four to five day
program that offers several outdoor, team-building and
educational experiences. All 4-H Camps are overnight.
