Where do you get your hair done? Can you recommend a good mechanic? Where's a child-friendly place to eat downtown? These are some of questions we've all been asked and have asked dozens of times. When we want to know the inside scoop, who do we turn to? To our friends, of course! That's just what FredParent has done for the second year to create our annual Best of the 'Burg list. So you're probably wondering what makes something a family favorite? It's as simple as a referral from a trusted resource, an establishment having a family-friendly atmosphere, a shop that's uniquely FXBG, receiving incred- ible customer service, getting great value and a place that's fun for all ages. The list goes on and on! We started with over 1100 of your nominations to find your favorites in each of 50 categories! If you want to get a peek right away and kill the suspense, turn to page 15. On the journey through parenting, it takes time, money and a lot of trial and error to narrow down our own trusted list of go-to's. We may see five mechanics, three hairdressers, two pediatricians, and eat at six restaurants before we find those favorite few that we love and can't stop talking about. I hope that you'll find some new businesses on our Best of the 'Burg list that you haven't visited, but may have been itching to try. Be sure to men- tion that you saw them in the July issue of Fredericksburg Parent. I'd like to also thank everyone who voted again this year. Once again you've taken the guesswork out of where people in the 'Burg can eat, play, shop, and have memorable family experiences. Best of the 'Burg WINNER
