www.FredParent.NET • 35 1/4 AVAIL W alking into the Latitudes Fair Trade Store, you find yourself surrounded by home goods, accessories, and clothes rich in color, texture and design. The products sold at Latitudes are not just beauti- ful; they're handcrafted from artisans all over the world. Latitudes Fair Trade Store's story began in 2009 when Terry Owsely, co-owner of Latitudes, was inspired by a local weav- ing cooperative during a trip to Guatemala. The cooperative trained hundreds of women to produce, market and sell their work domestically and abroad. Lee and Terry Owsely knew there was a market for the beautiful handmade products back home. Through Latitudes, they've found a way to serve artisans from the developing world while sharing these amazing products with shoppers back home. Their flagship store opened in 2010 on Main Street in Warrenton, Virginia. In 2014, they opened their second shop on Caroline Street in Fredericksburg. The Fredericksburg location also serves as a pick-up site for sustainable, non- GMO, pasture-raised meat and egg deliveries from Whiffletree Farm (fourth Tuesday of every other month). First time buyers get a dozen eggs free. Be sure to follow Latitudes Fair Trade Store on all their social media platforms for information and pictures of their constantly changing products, their artisans and upcoming events.
