out & about continued from pg 33 Mon 21 Fee Free Day @ All National Parks. ���America���s great outdoors should be experienced by everyone,��� according to Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar. The fee free days will give both first time and repeat visitors a good reason to spend time in our National Parks. The fee waiver does not cover expanded amenity or user fees for things such as camping. Martin Luther King Day of Service. 10am - 3pm. Parks are for people! Our green spaces serve as a bastion of renewal for our minds, bodies and spirits. Just as we need to be refreshed, so do the park facilities. Spend part of your day helping Caledon State Park staff get the park ready for the coming season. Projects include working on the Visitor Center (painting and more) and working on our gardens and trails. Come by yourself or with a group. Presentations examining the culture and history of Scotland���s past and present. The day���s events include: Bagpipe and Drumming Master Class;��Bonnie Rideout Presents: The Art of Scotland���s Fiddle;��Demonstrations of Scottish Country Dancing with open social dancing;��Children���s Passport to Scotland featuring Highland Games and crafts in cooperation with Mid-Atlantic Scots 4 Tots;��Exhibits highlighting authentic crafts and goods for sale��� including jewelry, pottery, traditional apparel and much more! Cost: $15 Adults; $5 Children. www.hyltoncenter.org/scottish. Jefferson Sudbury School Open House. 2pm - 5pm. Come to our Open House at England Run Library. Jefferson Sudbury School (JSS) opens Sep 2013 and will be an alternative democratic school for students from kindergarten through high school. JSS is based on the ground breaking educational philosophy developed by the Sudbury Valley School (SVS) in Massachusetts. The purpose of the Open House is to educate people about the Sudbury philosophy and gauge interest in a school forming in our area. We are parents working to open a new kind of school in Fredericksburg.
