After my last blog installment a friend asked me, “What are you going to do when you cross the 100 pound mark?” I had no idea. I don't have a talk show, so rolling out 100 pounds of lard is not happening (besides it's already been done). I told her I would have to think about it.
While I was thinking about this last week, I thought of how fun it was to run with my kids in the back yard (even if they still pass me); sit on the commuter train in my seat with my purse next to me and still have room for another passenger; and the relief I feel when my feet don't hurt after walking in heels all day. These are all gifts from losing this large amount weight, I am grateful for them and don't take them for granted.
But my friend is right, I need to do something for me to celebrate this milestone. Here are some of the ideas I rejected:
-
Registering for a 5K (incentive to keep working, not a reward)
-
Buying a new outfit (already done that, many times)
-
Scheduling a massage (just used that as reward for a weight loss challenge ending July 4th)
-
Eating a bowl of ice cream (NO THANKS!!!)
So I'm still looking for that special treat just for me (suggestions welcome)! Perhaps the fact that I haven’t figured it out yet is why I can't seem to get past the 99 pound mark. In the meantime, my six month post-surgery date is quickly approaching and I thought a couple of before and after pictures might be fun. I know, I can’t believe they are of the same person either!
