I have been seeing the funniest memes online this week about how no one is ready to give up their elastic waists pants and return to a real routine.
For those of us fortunate enough to have the time off, the two weeks of holidays spoil us with family time, relaxation, and days that you don’t want to end. But alas the New Year hits and we make promises of goals to achieve and resolutions that we will stick to. Most of us even join the majority of folks in the whole, “New Year, New Me” mantra. However, I can honestly say that our department is experiencing the “New Year, New Me” that is so popular. Right now, right as I type this!
As we roll into 2016, we of course have our new catalog which features tons of new programs and activities, but even more significantly, we have a new Director, Jane Shelhorse. Jane Shelhorse spent her first 21 ½ years with the City as the Assistant Director of our department before taking her last position as Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism for Louisa County, where she has been the last 8 ½ years. "I am excited to return to Fredericksburg where I started my career and be part of the growth that is happening in the city." Read more about her return to our department here.
I am keep my post brief this time around so that I can adjust my own holiday muffin top over my slacks and work on my own resolutions a bit. I think I’ll peek around the interwebs and see what everyone else’s are… and then claim thebest ones for my own!
