I'm the first to admit that I simpy can't resist a good sale. Anywhere, anytime. They suck me in and leave me begging for more. It's an adrenaline rush, for sure. Can anyone out there relate? The good news? I've scored some amazing pieces on the cheap, and some of them recently have taken top billing in my closet. Let me share my recent finds from the sale rack...
This past weekend, we met friends in Williamsburg for a chilly trip to Busch Gardens. While packing, I realized I needed an updated warm, sporty coat that looks great with sneakers (no, I'm not one of those over-the-top fashionistas who wears stilletos to the amusement parks....I don't get that, but I digress).
We popped into the Columbia outlet (Williamsburg Premium Outlets) and I found a light-weight puffer coat in a gorgeous purple. $89. More than I wanted to spend. I walked to the clearance rack, and found the same jacket in bright orange for $42. It took me a minute to come up with a game plan, but by finding a muted mint fleece turtleneck (which matched the trim on the bright orange coat--as shown in photo to the right), I calmed the bright pop down and made it much more appealing. Sold! As the day went on, I grew more in love with my clearance find. Bonus? I was easily spotted in the crowd!
Staying on topic of bright, sporty athletic pieces......just last week, our local Marshall's (Cosner's Corner) had bountiful rounders of marked down athletic hoodies and pullovers in fun pops of color. I scored a purple zip hoodie and and a hot pink pullover (each at under $20) and have already worn them multiple times. Just as comfy and warm as my big collegiant sweatshirts, but more updated and polished. Highly recommend adding to your wardrobe!
Next score? Found at Old Navy (Central Park)! Stopped in to check out some jeans for my little guy, and didn't make it past the front of the store before I discovered the most adorable capped-toe flats. On sale for $18! Deal! Bought two: one in a black & white snakeskin pattern and the other in cobalt blue with contrasting silver cap (pictured above). My friend couldn't resist either and scored both a gorgeous magenta & gold, and tan & black polka-dot. The most adorable (and seriously comfortable) flat around!
I have more sale finds to disclose, but I'll save those for another time. My tip to you? Check out the sale racks! You might just score a few favorites of your own, and who doesn't love a bargain?
