Let Me Introduce Myself

May 3, 2013

Hey guys! I'm so excited to be part of the Fredericksburg Parent family as a bi-monthly blog contributor. In full disclosure, I'm not a professional blogger, but I do love to write, connect with others, and share my passion for fashion (isn't that catchy) so I'm really looking forward to this new role. I'm on a mission to make Fredericksburg the Fashion Capital of the World. No, really! Ok, that might be a stretch, but I'm excited to share some of my favorite fashion tips and advice with you. High Maintenance (in the best way possible) is a term that I've come to embrace, and it happens to be a great conversation starter.

Ok, so the boring stuff in a condensed version. I have over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry. I studied fashion design while at Indiana University, before graduating with a Master in Human Relations (University of Oklahoma) and a BA in Human Resource Development (Hawaii Pacific University) and starting my professional career. My vast experience in the industry includes modeling, professional styling, merchandising, procurement (ladies' ready-to-wear and accessories) retail senior management, client development, training & development, and professional instruction. I've walked away from the industry several times to pursue other interests, but I always ended up missing it. It's in my blood. So, two years ago, I branched out on my own and created my own business, High Maintenance Image & Fashion Consulting.

I offer customized, individual consultations specifically designed for each client. My most popular service is the Wardrobe Inventory. Wardrobes are edited and re-worked while identifying gaps by using The Top Ten (Accessories, Classics, and Trends) alongside HM's detailed wardrobe inventory. Additionally, 10 favorite items from the client's closet are professionally styled from head to toe! It is so much fun! Other services include personal styling, personal shopping, accessorizing, and Special Event styling. In addition, I provide group workshops on career dressing, personal image and styling, fashion trends, and so much more. All workshops are customized to meet each organization's needs. I have presented for the United States Marine Corps Annual General Officer Symposium, ladies' luncheons, and non-profit organizations, to name a few.

My premise is that everyone can be fashionable and stylish regardless of body type, budget, or circumstances. Basic, ordinary pieces can be fabulous when pulled together and accessorized. I'm living proof. As a military spouse and mother of three boys, I've lived all over the world (very limited clothing options for an average American woman in Japan, by the way) and have always been on a budget. I shop clearance all the time and am proud of my finds. Who doesn't love a bargain? So, I hope that somewhere along the way, I can inspire you to be the best, and most fashionable, YOU!

I look forward to bringing you my first blog post, "Five Items Every Woman Should Have in Her Closet" and encourage your feedback, always. Please check out my facebook page for daily fashion tips and posts @ www.facebook.com/yourfashionexpert and website @ www.yourfashionexpert.net

Until next time, dress like you mean it!
