The Weecycled Wardrobe is holding its first sale of 2018 from March 16 through 18 at the Fredericksburg Field House.
The sale, the largest children's consignment sale in the Fredericksburg region, is celebrating its 17th year of operation. Vicki Burrow and Penny Wack, co-owners and co-founders of the sale, consider those who consign at the sale as part of our "tribe".
"It's not just a sale, it's a social event. Moms helping moms and the community," said Burrow.
The sale hosts over 750 consignors, on average, and typically over 75,000 items for ages newborn to teen. Clothes, toys, baby necessities including strollers, and children's furniture make up the bulk of the inventory. However, the sale also includes DVDs, books, maternity, and even home decor.
Shoppers can expect clean items, carefully vetted by volunteers, and prices up to 80 percent off of retail value. The last day of the sale, Sunday March 18, offers massive discounts, with most items 50 percent off of the ticket price. Many items that don't sell are donated at the end of the sale to local charitable organizations, including foster care groups and schools.
For those seeking to get into the sale early, Burrow has plenty of opportunities.
"When you volunteer at the sale, we offer a chance to shop early," said Burrow. "Our volunteers are a huge part of the sale, and we couldn't do it without them. We also offer our military families a chance to shop before anyone else. It's our way of saying thanks."
The sale opens to the public on Friday, March 16, at 10 a.m. Entry is free at the door, but shoppers are advised to leave diaper bags in their vehicles. For more information on the sale, visit www.weecycledwardrobe.com.
