So, I get this a lot: "Wow, you have your hands full! How are you doing it/feeling?"
Usually, I just respond with I feel good (because I do) and I have no idea HOW I'm doing it. I'm just, you know.. doing it. Archer loves being a big brother most of the time and Maddox is a dreamboat baby. He sleeps, guys. Like, through a fire alarm (totally happened) and a toddler all up in his face screaming the words to, Big Red Car (all. the. time). Archer was soverymuchnotlikethisexclamationpoints. He would cry during the day if he wasn't held and didn't nap well until he was a year old. Even now, he'll occasionally just not nap. As a baby, he would nurse every hour and a half during the night. Maddox goes longer. I won't say how long. The first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club.
Anywho, that's not to say any of this is easy. Far from it. After nap-time and first thing in the morning are particularly difficult. Archer does NOT wake up from naps well. He is a curmudgeon. Before Maddox was here, I would usually rock him for roughly 20-30 minutes until he was ready to face the world. For some reason, Maddox always wants to nurse when Archer wakes up. OH HO HO, this never ends well. Someone always ends up crying occasionally it's me. Mornings are CRAZY. I have to pump asap (I over produce like crazy), Maddox is fussy (he's learning to transition from day to night), Archer is hungry, the pets are terribly excited that we are all in the same room OMG, and J is just trying to get to work with matching socks. It's beyond hectic. I don't see how anyone with multiple children can get to work on time. I applaud all you working moms, and mamas who take their kids to school, or just really have to be somewhere at a certain time in the morning all the time. You all rock!
So that's how we're doing. We are taking it day-by-day and learning how we function best. We are thriving, and adjusting, and making mistakes, and apologizing. We are a hot mess of super adorable babies and exhausted parents.
You know what? I kinda really love it.
I feel good and we're doing well. Thanks for asking :)
