When those injuries affect a child's head, it is important to watch for a possible concussion. If allowed to heal properly, concussions are generally not serious, and the child can usually return to playing sports. A hit to the head doesn't automatically mean your child has a concussion. It is important to be aware of symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, loss of consciousness, and headache or head pressure. If you think your child may have a concussion, seek medical attention to determine how serious the concussion is and when it is safe to resume activities such as sports.
