20 Fredericksburg Parent and Family • October 2026 2 Fredericksburg Parent and Family • Special Issue 2026 WRITTEN BY CAMILLE TURNER As the weather gets cooler and schedules get busier, what is new at the YMCA for families trying to stay ac ve? One of the things we are most excited about is the con nued expansion of 24/7 wellness access! We now have three loca ons offering members around- the-clock access to their wellness centers. These include the Ron Rosner Family YMCA in Spotsylvania, the Caroline Family YMCA and, most recently, the Trive Family YMCA of King George. We know that between work, school, sports and family schedules, finding me for yourself can be difficult. Having 24/7 access gives our members the flexibili- ty to make wellness work around their lives, not the other way around. Whether your best me to work out is early in the morning, late at night or somewhere in between, we are working to make wellness more accessible for our community. October is always a fun month for families. What does the YMCA have planned for Halloween? Creepy Crawly season is one of our favorite YMCA tradi ons! Throughout October, our branches will host their own versions of Creepy Crawly fes vi es, and each loca on puts its own spin on the fun. Depending on the branch, families may find carnivals, trunk or treats, haunted houses, games, costumes, candy and plenty of spooky fun. Some loca ons may also offer sensory friendly opportuni es to help create an environment where even more children and families can par cipate and enjoy the fes vi es. Once the weather turns cold, do families have op ons for indoor racquet sports? Absolutely! You do not have to put your paddle or racquet away when the temperatures drop. The Rowe Tennis Center at the Massad Family YMCA provides year-round opportuni es for indoor tennis and pickleball. From recrea onal players looking sponsored material As the seasons change, there is so much happening at the Rappahannock Area YMCA! Whether you are looking for something fun to do with the kids, a new way to stay active as the weather gets colder or an opportunity to make a di!erence, there is something for everyone at the Y this fall and winter.
