letter to reader
Amanda Danaher,
Frederickburg Parent
and Family Acting Editor.
Recently, I started filling a large wall in our home
with my kids' artwork. It's a mix of everything,
from trees and mountains to brightly colored
dogs and pieces that feel a little abstract but
completely them. It adds so much color to the
space, turning a once bare wall into something warm, fresh and full of life.
Some pieces were crafted at
home, others on a road trip
or in their school art room.
Each frame holds a moment in
time, and for a second, I can
see who they were yesterday
and anticipate who they will
become tomorrow. They won't
always be this young, but for
now, I get to hold onto a small
piece of their creativity and
spirit as they are now. And
that feels so special to me.
Maybe that's why this time
of year always hits a little dif-
ferently. May is a month of
milestones. Sports wrap up,
dance seasons end and the
school year is coming to a
close. It's bittersweet, but it
also means something new is
just around the corner.
In this issue, we are honoring those leading today while celebrating the
next generation shaping what comes next. From extraordinary women
whose leadership is rooted in service and meaningful impact on our com-
munity, to local kids reflecting on the Revolutionary era and how it shapes
their understanding of freedom today, to graduating senior Deven Jani
of Riverbend High School, whose hard work and dedication show what's
possible as he looks ahead to his future, we are reminded that our stories
today shape what comes next.
Because whether it's on a wall at home in a simple picture frame or in
the hope we share at the end of the school year, what we create today
becomes part of us tomorrow.
XOXO,
What we create
today becomes
part of us tomorrow.
