I have been going to their art and music classes since I was two years old. They also have homeschool classes. Claire Ellinger is the owner of Art Time for Kids, which started as a small group of children mee ng in her house un l she opened up classes in the building downtown in 2017. WRITTEN BY JANE, AGE 5 Jane pictured with Claire, owner of Art Time for Kids. growing up in edericksr Fredericksburg Parent recently put out a call for volunteer Youth Reporters, and we were thrilled by the enthusias c response. Each young reporter's fi rst assignment was to write about a busi- ness located in - or formerly part of - Downtown Fredericksburg. One thing quickly became clear our Youth Reporters love art, music, great food, and fun. Art Time for Kids Best Place for Art Classes in Town One of my favorite classes was when we made cat art and even got to do an obstacle course in the class. I also like when Ms. Claire shows us pain ngs by other ar sts. Ms. Claire has been doing art since she was a li le girl. "I love this ar st named Sandy Skoglund, and she makes big installa on art with animals, and she covers things in popcorn, and she does really silly, funny things where she puts unexpected things together," Ms. Claire said. Ms. Claire said her favorite thing about running Art Time for Kids is seeing kids enjoy the eff ort she puts in to the space and the classes. "It is hard work, but hard work can feel really good when you get to see it and be proud," she said. We are proud to spotlight fi ve local children who are "Growing Up Near Downtown" as our featured Youth Reporters. Does your school-aged child have an interest in being a Youth Reporter, too?
