WRITTEN BY LEIGH ANNE VAN DOREN letter to reader Leigh Anne Van Doren, Frederickburg Parent and Family publisher Spring Is In Full Bloom Leig An Dear Readers, As we turn the page into April, spring is in full bloom—and with it comes a fresh wave of community connection, Easter fun, and important conversations about policies that impact our children. This month's issue is a vibrant mix of celebra- tion, education, and advocacy. We're excited to share a joyful Read Across America Day photo montage. Our public schools pulled out all the stops, with students, teachers, and even a few local celebrities dressing up and diving into books. You'll see smiles, costumes, and a few familiar faces—all celebrating the power of literacy and imagination. April also brings Easter fun! Our local Easter Egg Hunts calendar is packed with events across Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania. Whether your family prefers a traditional park hunt or a unique dog adventure, you'll find the perfect spot to make memories. At the same time, we bring you an important piece from the Fredericksburg Department of Health addressing the recent measles outbreaks. The article offers guidance for parents, vaccination facts, and tips to protect vulnerable family members. Finally, we highlight ChildFind and the area's PEID (Parent Education Infant Development) programs, which are critical early childhood services that help identify young children needing speech therapy or other developmental support. Funded by the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education) Act, ChildFind has helped countless local families get the early help they need. However, we're facing a serious concern: federal funding for these services is under threat due to policy changes proposed by President Trump's administra- tion. We urge parents to stay informed and advocate for continued support of early intervention programs. As always, we thank you for making us part of your parenting journey. Let's cel- ebrate, stay informed, and speak up for the future of our kids. Warmly,
