6 The FXBG Advance • Special Issue 2025 WRITTEN BY MARTIN DAVIS letter to reader A Guide to Public Schools in the 540 Martin Davis Welcome to the first print issue of the FXBG Advance. Launched in 2023, the Advance is principally an online media organization — www.fxbgadvance.com — focus- ing on news that shapes readers' lives in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Stafford. From education to politics, health care to investigative reporting, the Advance is rec- ognized for its ability to explore issues in depth. We're now bringing that approach to print. We believe bolder journalism creates stronger communities. Whether you're new to the region or a long-time resident, this inaugural print issue will serve as a guide to our local public school systems—their leadership, vision, goals, and key departments, along with contact information. For parents of younger children, this issue also explores the challenges facing daycare communities and some support organizations available to parents needing daycare. What we publish here is just a sampling of the information subscribers to the Advance receive twice a day, Monday through Friday, in their email inboxes and once a day on the weekends. Subscribing is free, and none of our content is behind paywalls. Use the URL code below to register and start receiving news that goes beyond education to include investigative reporting, as well as reporting on local government, transportation, consumer topics, and much more. Our sister publication, Fredericksburg Parent and Family is on the other side of this publication. Their part of this annual 540 update is how to develop your child's brain between the ages of 0-5, a profile of a local private school, and advice on how to help your teen handle money. Look for the upcoming preschool panel discussion, led by sea- soned education reporter for the Advance, Adele Uphaus Conner. Martin Davis Editor-in-chief, FXBG Advance hope starts here. 540.373.3223 WWW.RAPPAHANNOCKAREACSB.ORG WORKING AT THE INTERSECTION OF HOPE AND HELP. RAPPAHANNOCK AREA COMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD
