www.FredericksburgParent.NET 7 When it comes to saving and invest- ing, the best person to get advice from is an expert. In this case, the guru is a sweet-faced, smiling 10-year-old named Kennedy O'Neal, who has writ- ten a children's book with her father, Chris, titled "The Adventures of Super Kennedy." Kennedy "Done Deal" O'Neal, of Spotsylvania, learned how to save money in a piggy bank when she was a toddler, and her realtor/investor dad has been a major inspiration. In her first book, this businesswoman far beyond her years accom- panies her dad while he shows houses to clients. Kennedy con- siders herself his partner, and when he deposits rental property money in the bank, she's also by his side. She earns money from her dad by being patient and respectful as he conducts business, and her earnings get funneled into the piggy bank along with birthday, holiday, tooth fairy and allowance money. After filling the bank, she makes a trip to the bank to deposit the money in her own account. With the saving and investing experience she has mastered, Kennedy is eager to share her knowledge to help other kids save money. Her book is ideal for all ages and a great foundation for children, because it explains —in a fun way with colorful illustra- tions—that just because you're a kid doesn't mean you can't earn money. Kids can save money from birthday gifts and special occa- sions instead of spending it on toys. The easy-to-follow book gives youngsters the power to remove their hands from their parents' wallets and start earning their own money. Parents will want to read the book, too, since it explains that saving can turn into investing in their children's future. "Kennedy's mother and I have been teaching her and her little brother about finances since they were born," says Chris O'Neal. All of the investing and saving lessons don't keep Kennedy from being a kid. She likes gymnastics and has a goal to earn a medal in the 2028 Olympics. She loves her family, especially her brother, "Baby Chris." Her favorite movie is the "Little Rascals" because the kids were able to rebuild their clubhouse without money, using the hustle mentality. While browsing the website, check out "PiggyBank," the official music video Kennedy stars in. Beginning with a statistic that 50 percent of people don't have $1,000 in the bank, she dances and uses catchy lyrics, such as "It started with Abraham Lincoln, and now I have Benjamin Frank." Kennedy teaches other children in a fun video that she wants her piggy bank to break, and she doesn't want to go broke.
