WRITTEN BY LENORA KRUK-MULLANAPHY family favorites 2022 family Kids First Pediatrics of Stafford Kids First Pediatrics of Stafford, the winner of Fredericksburg Parent & Family magazine's 2022 Family Favorites for Health & Wellness, is the private practice of Dr. Roxanne Allegretti. The name, "Kids First," was selected because Allegretti believes that's where the emphasis of pediatric care should be. Making it a "medical home," the practice is where patients and their families feel they're valued and care is available for them when needed. Kids First welcomes patients from new babies, including preemies, up to college-age adolescents with a goal of per- sonalized care. Allegretti provides well child care and has experience in many chronic health issues, including behav- ioral problems, mental health concerns and attention-defi- cit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). When she doesn't have the expertise in something, she'll help find the appropriate specialist and coordinate care with them to reach the best outcome as a team. The professional staff at Kids First includes services, such as well checks, immunizations and the management of simple illnesses and chronic health conditions. Basic lab services- -blood counts, urinalyses, flu and strep tests—are available. Because the practice is small, children are known by the staff, and parents/guardians can contact them after hours (for a small fee). The goal is to make every attempt to avoid having patients visit an urgent care to see a provider who doesn't know the child or a trip to the emergency room unless there's a true emergency. Kids First strives to make every experience with the office the ultimate in customer service—from the website, the patient portal and scheduling to the facility, care from the nurse, and billing, phone and email interactions.
