Author Rachel Terlop joined Fredericksburg Parent and Family Magazine and Possum-bilities for an
extra special storytime on July 11 at Possum-bilities's downtown location. Terlop is the author of
Maggie the Moomaid, a fantastic story about a young manatee who loves to play dress-up. The book
includes body-positivity messages sure to inspire any young "manatees" to embrace their bodies and
be themselves. Maggie the Moomaid can be purchased at maggiethemoomaid.com.
WRITTEN BY MIRA DOVER
Terlop read
Maggie the
Moomaid
aloud to a
room full
of children,
engaging
her audi-
ence with
fun voices,
a read-along
activity, and charming interactions
with the kids. Possum-bilities's own
live possum, Sweet Pea, even joined
the fun, dressing up in her own
moomaid costume and listening
to the story. The event concluded
with a moomaid craft provided by
FredParent, and many children met
Terlop or purchased her book.
Possums for Reading's FREE Storytime takes place on the second Monday of every month at
