28 Fredericksburg Parent and Family • October 2021 The Dolly Parton Imagina on Library is being added to four new zip codes this fall: 22401, 22406 and 22554, sponsored by Fredericksburg Parent Gives, the nonprofi t arm of Fredericksburg Parent and Family, and 22405, sponsored by Ebenezer United Methodist Church. "I think this month's cover photo says it all," says Fredericksburg Parent publisher Leigh Anne Van Doren. The cover children's excitement at holding their books is just infec ous. Early childhood stud- ies show that reading is the number one thing ANY parent can do to help their child grow and learn." "I wanted to bring Dolly Parton's Imagina on Li- brary to Staff ord to ensure that when people move to Staff ord, or when a family welcomes a new baby, they can sign up for this program and feel a con- nec on to our local community," says Anna Miller, the leader of Ebenezer UMC's Imagina on Library volunteer team. Founded in 1995 in Dolly Parton's hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee, the Imagina on Library is an interna onal book gi ing program that mails free, high-quality books every month to children from birth to age 5, regardless of family income. To date, more than 160 million books have been mailed to more than 1.8 million children. During the pandemic, it's par cularly important to support families as they struggle to overcome learning loss. Fredericksburg Parent Gives and Ebenezer church are both fundraising to serve their current affi li- ated zip codes and hope to expand to the whole area eventually. Please go to Fredericksburgpar- ent.net/dollyparton to get informa on on sign- ing up for books, dona ng or volunteering in the 22401, 22405 and 22554 zip codes.
