Classes may even inspire a child to study an instrument. Robyn Bauer, director of Bright Beginnings Music Together, brings music to babies, tod- dlers and preschoolers from 0 to 5 years old. She began teaching for the Alexandria- based Music Together Vivo in 2004 with classes in Fredericksburg. In 2013, she took over the program, renaming it Bright Begin- nings Music Together. According to Lauren Guilmartin, director of early learning, Music Together, LLC, music-making helps your child's development in many important ways. You don't have to have a great singing voice or play a musical instru- ment to have an impact. The simple and enjoyable act of making music with your child naturally fosters important social and emotional skills. These skills include self-reg- ulation, self-confidence, leadership and social skills and socio-emotional intelligence. The teachers are passionate about music and its develop- ment on children, and they create a fun, informal setting to support each child's musical development.
