All the featured wineries offer something unique for visitors.
"Each winery has a unique personality. Most are historic. One emphasizes the owner's proud
military career, another its owner's artistic talent. A couple have brand new tasting rooms;
some have additional amenities and retail shops," adds Gennace. "Many have lodging accom-
modations and special events, including live music. Nearly all welcome pets and at two win-
eries, friendly rescue pups steal the show."
Many of the featured wineries offer bottle discounts during the event and some local hotels
offer special weekend packages. Tasting Passes, which offer over 35 percent savings on nor-
mal tasting fees, will be available at all wineries and can be used during the event, according
to organizers.
The Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail offers a Passport program where stamps from feature winer-
ies and events can equal nice discounts on wine purchases.
In recent years the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail's events have been featured and praised most
notably in the Washington Post, Savor Virginia, Virginia Living, CNN and USA Today.
