Entrepreneur of the Year Proud Founding Member 8 Fredericksburg Parent and Family ��� March 2013 letter to readers When Life Happens to the Family by nancy massanat T he ���traditional��� family is more and more not the norm in our society. I find my family being one that would not fit the traditional model. I am saddened every time I hear about another divorce knowing that I did try to save my marriage. Whatever the reason for the dissolution of a marriage, you have to pick up the pieces and just move forward. We all have challenges, struggles and life changes: the birth of a child, the death of a parent, moving to a new area, having a spouse be deployed. I often tell my kids it is how we meet the challenge that makes the difference. If you are positive and surround yourself with positive thoughts and positive people it will make an incredible impact on your daily life. One of the ways I have tried to change my own thinking is I have started to collect quotes. I wish I could spend far more time with my nose in a book, however that not being the case, I collect snippets. While some are funny and others are deep thoughts, all have in one way or another ���spoken��� to me. This past Christmas I shared part of my collect by creating perpetual calendars to give as gifts. I would encourage you to find a few quotes that ���speak��� to you and write them on the bathroom mirror, put them on a stick note on your desk or frame it and put it by your bedside. No matter where you put it, make sure that it is a statement of encouragement and know that with every season of life you may need a new quote. Here are a few of my favorites: ���Some people feel the rain.
