Grants Available for Youth Led or Youth-Serving Nonprofits

(Fredericksburg)—The Community Foundation will award at least $10,000 in grants to youth-led or youth-associated community programs. (Individual grants range from $500 to $5,000.) The deadline to apply to The Community Foundation's Fall 2013 Youth in Philanthropy Grant is August 12, 2013

Youth in Philanthropy is a ten year-old program that The Community Foundation created to encourage student volunteerism and philanthropy. It engages area young people in decision-making about the distribution of grant dollars. The group consists of 40 plus area high school students who review proposals from local nonprofit organizations that address youth-based issues. The Youth in Philanthropy members then make recommendations for funding to the foundation's Board of Governors. Over the years, these young leaders have awarded more than $100,000 in grants.

The Youth in Philanthropy grant application can be found on the Community Foundation website: www.cfrrr.org. Or call the Community Foundation offices at 373-9292 for a hard copy.

The Community Foundation manages and distributes charitable giving in the Rappahannock River region. The goal of the Community Foundation is to promote greater philanthropy by assuming challenges faced by the donor and managing one-time and continual giving in a responsible and knowledgeable manner. The Community Foundation distinguishes itself from other local charities by providing efficient and effective services to build a collection of permanent funds. The foundation and its board members are endlessly dedicated to the community's enrichment and growth.

The Foundation offers a spectrum of services for individuals, organizations and businesses that are eager to achieve great results with their charitable actions. For more information about participating in our giving programs or establishing a fund at the Foundation, call 540 373-9292.
