Our hearts collectively broke as a nation, on December 14, 2012, when children and facility were brutally gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Like many parents, I spent most of that day crying, holding my baby close, and trying to avoid Archer seeing the news. News I couldn't turn away from myself.
I wanted to help, but how could I? How could any of us? Where would I even begin to try and make any part of this "better?" My mind still cannot even begin to fathom the pain those families and community must be feeling.
My answer came a few days later. Several articles featuring a program called, "Snowflakes For Sandy Hook" started popping up all over social media platforms. The idea is so very sweet and simple. People from all over the world can send in paper snowflakes to adorn the hallways of the new building Sandy Hook Elementary School students and faculity will be returning to, in 2013. Thus, creating a beautiful winter wonderland. Hopefully, this small gesture of love will put a smile on faces that so desperately deserve a smile.
If you would like to participate, please send your snowflakes, by January, 12 2013, to:
60 Connolly Parkway
Building 12, Suite 103
Hamden, CT 06514
If you would like to participate but do not know how to make a paper snowflake, here is an easy tutorial.
If you would like to help out further, the community of Newtown has requested only monetary donations at this time. For service or product donation inquiries, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
