Can I Coupon? Yes I Can!

Money.

Ugh.

I need some.

So I’ve decided to try my hand at couponing again.

About a year ago I went to a couponing class at church. It was motivational, fun, and completely overwhelming!

One of my friends does the couponing thing amazingly well. I think she spends about $20 a week to feed her family of 6! I’m totally not exaggerating! I can’t even tell you what I spend because it’s too embarrassing.

My friend shops at various stores, downloads coupons, clips coupons, and is super organized about the whole business.

Organized is not a word that is often used to describe me. I used to be organized now I can’t even give the illusion that I’m organized.

After hearing my friend speak I was super excited to get started! I was determined to decrease the millions I spend on groceries! Unfortunately when I sat down with all those flyers, coupons, lists, and my computer…I was instantly lost. It’s like my mental couponing wagon is missing a wheel…and I can’t figure it out why.

I remember watching a couponing show with my kids where a lady bought $900 worth of groceries for under $100. It was amazing. But she bought 50 boxes of candy and a bunch of boxed foods I wouldn’t really consider buying. Even if I could buy 50 boxes of candy for 10¢ a piece I wouldn’t…I have 5 children for goodness sake! I’m crazy but not that crazy!

Anywho! I’m determined once again to try this couponing thing. I’m going to do this! I’m going to save money if it kills me…which it might.

But more than that I want to feed my family well. Honestly, if I took more time to plan meals that’d probably be half the battle.

I’m inspired to use coupons. I’ve started again. I have my little blue coupon holder all labeled and organized. I have my grocery list and I’m raring to go!

Last week I shopped at a store that unexpectedly doubled my coupons! I can’t tell you how excited I was! (Boy my life has changed – who would have thought double coupons could make a girl so happy!?!)

I didn’t end up feeding my family of 6 for $20 but I think I might have saved $20 and that is just great! Baby steps!

I’ll figure this out and then maybe I can bless y’all like my friend blessed me by sharing my couponing success!
