I crossed the two month mark since surgery this week 40 lbs lighter. It feels sensational! I no longer wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, my knees and ankles don't hurt when I get up in the mornings, and I've stopped using my CPAP machine for my sleep apnea. I had no idea how much my weight was attributing to my sleep issues. What a relief to sleep through the night on my own!!!
Also, I’m continuing to add solid foods back into my diet and after all those months of liquids, I find that eating real food is so much fun! I got some help from a Gastric Bypass Surgery Group to get my protein intake up. The group is part of the app I use to log my food and exercise. It is really neat finding free resources like that. I'm excited to connect with people who are successfully meeting their weight loss goals, who started at the same weight I did. I'm looking forward to trying some new recipes in the coming weeks, too.
The pictures posted are in the same sweater and camisole, the jeans are smaller (so they will stay on!) I'm continuing to shrink, now wearing a size large top to go with the saggy butt, size 12 jeans. (The 10's are too tight in the thighs and waist, but they are waiting in the closet for next week!).
One challenge I wasn’t expecting was how cold weather now affects me. It was hard on those really cold days last week. The reduction in my body fat has left me with little insulation, which the below-freezing temperatures we recently had really made clear! My solution when at home is a warm fuzzy bathrobe I bought to go to the hospital. It's really big now and fits over my clothes. When out and about, I've taken to wearing long johns under my too-big jeans. Since the temperatures are supposed to drop again, any suggestions for staying warm are appreciated!!!
